Romantic · Zanzibar Collection
Zanzibar does not make people fall in love. It gives people who already are somewhere worthy of that fact.
The Complete Romantic Arc
Eleven nights. The baobab forest at dawn. The sandbank on Night Eight. Four musicians in the villa courtyard on Night Eleven.
Eleven nights is the Romantic arc at its fullest. Every register of the island. Every mode of togetherness.
The sandbank on Night Eight is the physical peak — placed after seven nights of deepening, so the couple arrives at the ocean's most intimate setting in the most open state of the arc. The Taarab serenade in the villa courtyard on Night Eleven is the emotional peak. It is placed on the penultimate night, not the last — the final evening is left entirely to the couple. Maryangel's two sealed letters — one per person, written to each as themselves, not as a unit — are the most important detail of the close.
Phase One
Arrive & Open
Nights 1 – 3 · Private Villa · Zanzibar
Day One
You Have Arrived
Private transfer. Villa check-in — the concierge shows the space and disappears. Champagne on the terrace. In-villa dinner on the private terrace. Candles. The ocean. No programme tonight.
Day Two
The Body Arrives
Late villa breakfast. Couples Abhyanga — 90 minutes, synchronised, side by side. A full Ayurvedic dosha consultation for each partner — 30 minutes each. Every treatment for the next eleven nights is calibrated from this session individually. No two partners are the same dosha. No two treatment sequences are identical.
In the evening: a private sunset dhow cruise — champagne, Stone Town from the water at golden hour.
Day Three
The Island at Dawn — Baobab Forest
Departure at 5:30am.
The Baobab Forest Dawn · Day 3 Morning
A private dawn walk into a baobab forest grove with a local elder herbalist — the couple, a guide, first light, and trees that have been growing here for over 800 years. The elder explains their role in Swahili coastal ceremony, including their use in marriage rituals. At the base of the oldest tree at first light, the elder speaks. The guide translates. The most quietly profound morning the 11-night arc offers.
Day Three · After
Return — The Morning Will Have Been Enough
Return to the villa. Extended breakfast on the terrace. The afternoon is free — the morning does not need anything added to it. In-villa dinner. The first evening after the baobab morning is quiet by design.
Phase Two
Culture — The Island Opens
Nights 4 – 6 · Zanzibar
Day Four
Stone Town — The Living City
A private Stone Town walk with a local guide who was born in the city. Carved doors, Darajani Market, the old fort, the dhow harbour. Private rooftop lunch. In the afternoon, a spice quarter walk with a Zanzibari herbalist. In the evening: Forodhani Gardens — no guide, no programme. The city's evening on their own terms.
Day Five
The Swahili Kitchen
A private Swahili cooking class for two in a Stone Town kitchen — three hours. Pilau, coconut curry, mandazi. Cook together. Eat what they made, alone in the kitchen at a table set for two. In the evening: the best rooftop table in Stone Town — above the carved doors, the Indian Ocean beyond.
Day Six
Sand Day — Gift & Shot
A private beach day. The couple's basket waiting at the sunbed.
Ryravel Signature · The Couple's Gift · Day 6
Her card and his card say different things. Both reference the same journey.
A hand-embroidered Zanzibar kaftan in her size, a hand-embroidered Zanzibari kikoi in his. A small bottle of locally pressed baobab and jasmine oil. Two handwritten cards addressed to each person separately. A single fresh frangipani. Both cards reference the same journey. Neither says the same thing. The photoshoot follows at golden hour — 60 minutes, the version of them that six days of the island brought to the surface.
Phase Three
Wellness — The Deepest Rest
Nights 7 – 8 · Zanzibar
Day Seven
The Deepest Rest
A Panchakarma Lite for two — a single-day Ayurvedic cleanse calibrated to each partner's individual dosha: Couples Abhyanga at 8am, Swedana herbal steam for two at 9:30am, a light Ayurvedic meal at midday, a medicated herbal drink in the afternoon. The day is entirely devoted to treatment. No excursions. A warm baobab oil bath drawn in the villa at 7pm. In-villa dinner. Early sleep.
Day Eight
Shirodhara — Then the Sandbank Approach
Shirodhara for two in the morning — warm baobab oil poured continuously over the forehead for 30 minutes each, then yoga nidra side by side. The most sedating treatment of the arc, placed the morning before the sandbank overnight deliberately: the couple arrives at the ocean's most intimate setting in the most open physical state of the eleven nights.
Rest through the midday. The villa. No schedule. At 4pm, the dhow departs.
Phase Four
The Sandbank
Night 8 Overnight · Indian Ocean
The Sandbank · Night Eight
An uninhabited sandbank in the Indian Ocean. A canvas tent with a proper bed, lanterns, a private cook, and a wood fire. The Ryravel team has withdrawn before the couple arrives. They are the only people visible in any direction. Cook fire. Catch of the day. Champagne. The stars. The couple who has had seven nights of deepening behind them — the baobab forest, the cooking class, the Panchakarma, the Shirodhara — arrives at this sandbank at full depth. In the morning, the dhow returns before the tide.
Day Nine
Return — The Slowest Day
Return to the villa by 9am. Three nights remain. No programme today. The day after the sandbank belongs entirely to the couple. In the evening: a private beach dinner on the sand. Candles. The integration meal.
Phase Five
Adventure, Music & Close
Nights 10 – 12 · Zanzibar
Day Ten
The Night Fisherman
The day is free — villa or beach, rest before the night. At 10pm, a traditional outrigger canoe. Lanterns at the bow. A Zanzibari fisherman who has worked these waters for over ten years. If the couple wants to fish, they fish. If they want to sit on the open ocean at midnight by lantern light, that is equally correct. Whatever is caught is cooked on a small fire on the boat. Midnight on the open water. No land visible. Stars. Back to the villa by 2am.
Day Eleven
The Quietest Day — Then the Music
Sleep as long as needed. Late villa breakfast. No programme until evening. An optional final spa treatment of the couple's choosing in the afternoon.
At 7pm: the villa courtyard.
The Ryravel Surprise · Not disclosed in advance · Night 11
Four musicians in the villa courtyard. A table for two. 90 minutes of music that was written for exactly this.
Taarab is the classical music of the Swahili coast — Arabic maqam, Indian melodic ornament, sub-Saharan African percussion, sung in Swahili. Every lyric is a love song. A private Taarab serenade for two is not a concert. It is an intimate performance: four musicians in the villa courtyard, candles, a table set for two, the private garden around them. The ensemble plays 90 minutes without intermission. They do not speak between pieces. The musicians withdraw after. The couple remains at the table. The villa belongs to them. This is Night Eleven — not Night Twelve. The final evening is left to the couple alone, without even music asking something of them.
Day Twelve
Celebration — The Final Morning
A celebration breakfast on the villa terrace, pre-ordered from the couple's noted preferences. Unhurried. The Departure Boxes are presented mid-morning. 1pm guaranteed checkout. A private vehicle to the airport. Two sealed letters from Maryangel — one per person. Eleven nights. The baobab forest, the cooking class, the sandbank, the fisherman at midnight, the music in the courtyard. All of it sealed.
Ryravel Signature · The Departure Box · Day 12
Two boxes. Two letters. One per person — not one as a couple.
Each box contains: a mounted couple photograph from the photoshoot, a full-size baobab and jasmine oil bottle, a hand-woven Zanzibari pouch, and a sealed handwritten letter from Maryangel — written to each person as themselves. Not as a unit. One box is left on the pillow for the partner to find. The other is at the breakfast table. Maryangel writes both letters after reviewing the couple's intake profile. She does not use a template.
